Redesign of the Theater & Poetry Project Website

The Theater & Poetry Project (TAPP) is a community-based organization providing free poetry workshops to public schools in Paterson, New Jersey. Their website—originally launched in the early 2000s—had not been meaningfully updated in years, resulting in an outdated interface and a confusing user experience. As a result, it became increasingly difficult for educators, students, and community members to understand the organization’s offerings or engage with their programs, contributing to a decline in visibility and participation.

The project focused on reimagining TAPP’s digital presence to better reflect its artistic mission, improve accessibility, and support continued community engagement.

PROJECT GOALS:

  • Create a design that felt expressive, welcoming, and aligned with the organization’s creative values.

  • Simplify navigation and content structure so educators, students, and partners could easily discover programs and resources.

  • Implement ADA-compliant design standards while adhering to grant-specific requirements, supporting equitable access for all users.
